Abstract
The crystal structures of the lithium salt, Li[CF3SO2N(CH2)(3)OCH3] and its 12-C-4 complex [Li subset of 12-C-4][CF3SO2N(CH2)(3)OCH3] demonstrate a ch ange in the lithium coordination environment upon complex formation. The lo nger Li-N bond distance in [Li subset of 12-C-4][CF3SO2N(CH2)(3)OCH3] indic ates that the 12-C-4 crown ether weakens the interactions between the lithi um cation and the [CF3SO2N(CH2)(3)OCH3](-) anion. Correlations between thes e structures and previously reported vibrational spectroscopy and ionic con ductivity are presented.
