Pasteurella multocida infections in rabbits may remain subclinical or can c
ause a variety of acute or chronic diseases in most organs, particularly ti
ssue in the repiratory and genital tracts. Although clinical signs are freq
uently used to diagnose pasteureliosis, other organisms can cause similar c
linical signs. The status of a rabbit with respect to P. multocida can be b
est determined using a polymerase chain reaction-based assay in conjunction
with a sensitive and specific ELISA.
