Abstract
Similar to their human counterparts, neonatal puppies and kittens have phys iologic parameters that differ from those of adults. Thus puppies and kitte ns require monitoring and treatment specific to their unique biochemistry a nd physiology. Knowledge of these differences becomes even more important w hen treatment decisions for life-threatening conditions, such as hypovolemi a or respiratory distress, must be made quickly.
