Abstract
The crystal and molecular structures of 8,9-dimethoxy-5',5'-dimethyl-1,2,3, 5,6,10b-hexahydropyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline-1-spiro-2'-cyclohexane-3,1',3'- trione are studied by X-ray diffraction. The unit cell parameters are a = 9 .478(2) Angstrom, b = 9.844(3) Angstrom, c = 11.663(3) Angstrom, alpha = 11 1.17(2)degrees, beta = 99.56(2)degrees, gamma = 105.82(2)degrees, Z = 2, an d space group P (1) over bar. The structure is solved by the direct method and refined to R = 0.0411 [1 > 4 sigma(I)]. Conformational and geometric ch aracteristics of the compound studied and the molecular packing in the crys tal are discussed. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".
