Abstract
A packet switching system uses a channel only when a signal to be transmitt ed is generated. Consequently, channel efficiency is higher than in circuit switching systems due to the statistical multiplexing effect. Among such s ystems, the PRMA (packet reservation multiple access) system, which is a ki nd of reservation-type packet multiple access system, has received interest because of its simple algorithm and large capacity. This paper proposes a reservation-type packet transmission system in which the base station perfo rms channel allocation. The performance is evaluated by computer simulation and it is shown that the proposed system has the best performance. (C) 200 0 Scripta Technica, Electron Comm Jpn.
