The broadband design of a circular array of bent stacked slot antennas (BSS
As) is presented. The angular diversity provided can mitigate multipath pro
pagation and intersymbol interference occurring in indoor wireless communic
ations. Details of the antenna design and experimental results are presente
d for a fixed sector configuration at 5.2GHz. Numerical simulation results
are consistent with experiments. The 3dB beamwidth in azimuth and elevation
is similar to 75 and 50 degrees, respectively, and the directivity is 7.7d
Bi. Over the whole HIPERLAN bandwidth, a -18dB return loss is achieved. wit
h only a 3dB degradation of secondary radiation robes.
