This article deals with the ethical approach of the literature in the conte
xt of a questioning of the platonic-aristotelian tradition's hegemony over
the philosophical and literary fields, calling to mind the evolution of the
Ideological State Apparatus' system which rules the literary field and dis
tinguishing between the three social practices of this institutional activi
ty(writing, reading and criticising). In the second part, it points out how
this approach implies questioning the subject problem and the relations th
e text establishes between meaning and signified. This leads Edmond Cros ba
ck to the basic presuppositions on which he builds his theory, focussed on
the morphogenesis and characterized by the specific functioning of a notion
al field where social and moral values are re-distributed by conflicting di
scourses.
