The purpose of this article is to explore nicotine-addiction and smoking-ce
ssation interventions while stressing the importance that physiological and
psychological addiction on can have on smoking cessation. In designing thi
s time-limited smoking-cessation plan, the benefits of pharmacotherapy, cog
nitive-behavioral therapy, and social support are explored. Previous resear
ch is applied to current practice strategy that Involves a multi-/interdisc
iplinary team perspective. To facilitate the intervention process, a combin
ation Intervention regimen that uses nicotine-replacement therapy, the poss
ible use of antidepressant medications, and cognitive-behavioral therapy an
d social support is suggested. Recommendations are made for constructing th
is brief time-limited model for smoking cessation.
