Abstract
The q-deformed moment of inertia, formulated by J = J(o)(1 + B[I](q)[ I + 1 ](q)), was first introduced as the mechanical moment of inertia of superdef ormed (SD) nuclei. The E2 transition gamma-ray energies and the dynamical m oment of inertia of the lowest superdeformed bands in Hg, Pb, and Tl isotop es are calculated. The calculated results indicate that the SD bands may be described by the ideal-rotor with the q-deformed moment of inertia.
