INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS IN HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER
A theoretical analysis of the process of gas absorption to a thin liquid fi
lm on a horizontal rotating disk is presented. The film is formed by the im
pingement of a confined Liquid jet at the center of the disk and subsequent
radial spreading of liquid along the surface of the disk The chemical reac
tion between the gas and the Liquid film is expressed as a zero-order homog
eneous reaction. The process is modeled by establishing equations for the c
onservation of mass, momentum, and species concentration and solving them a
nalytically. The final solution is expressed using confluent hypergeometric
functions. Results for gas concentration add Sherwood number are presented
using Reynolds number, Ekman number, and chemical reaction rate as paramet
ers. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd.
