Abstract
The shear viscosity of the molten CdTe with near stoichiometric initial com position was measured by using an oscillating cup viscometer up to 1403 K. The viscosity values hysteresis was obtained on heating and cooling curves. The viscosity increases from the melting point T-m up to T-m + 22 K, follo wed by a reduction in a narrow temperature range (2-3 K) during heating wit h a rate of 0.5 K/min. The reached value of the viscosity T-m + 25 +/- 1 K slightly decreases up to 1403 K and monotonically increases during the next cooling with the same rate. It was concluded that the solid defect structu re is influenced by the liquid CdTe viscosity dependence on temperature. Th e melt holding at T-m + 2K during 112 min and at T-m + 40 K during 41 min l ed to the viscosity quasi-harmonic oscillation with a period of about 5 min . (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
