Abstract
Both the statistical method and the fractal theory were used to numerically construct the simulated images of natural terrains. The IR feature model o f natural tereains was established by using the principle of heat transfer, and a simple algorithm was proposed to calculate the IR irradiance of comp lex terrains. The IR images of natural terrains were simulated by embodying the numerical results of infrared radiation in the generated geometrical p ictures of natural terrains.
