A. Osvet et al., Spectral hole burning in Sm2+-doped alkaliborate glasses and Tb3+-doped silicate and borate glasses, J LUMINESC, 86(3-4), 2000, pp. 323-332
Preparation of Sm2+-doped berate glasses for persistent spectral hole burni
ng is studied experimentally. The influence of different metallic reducing
agents on the reduction of Sm3+ to Sm2+ in berate glasses is discussed as w
ell as the influence of phase separation in borosilicate glasses on the spe
ctroscopic properties of Sm2+ ions. In Tb3+-doped silicate and berate glass
es we demonstrate persistent spectral hole burning in the F-7(6)-D-5(4) exc
itation line at temperatures below 50 K. The hole-burning properties and me
chanism are discussed. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
