The Ni 2p photoemission of nickel metal measured with circularly polarized
synchrotron radiation is compared with results of spin-polarized relativist
ic Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker Green's function calculations. The magnetic circu
lar dichroism displays pronounced satellite structures over a wide energy r
ange which are not reproduced by the one-particle calculation. This gives a
clear indication for the presence of electron-correlation effects.
