Sulfur cured conventional vulcanizates from EPDM and the disperse elastomer
phase of dynamic vulcanizates from PP and EPDM were compared with regard t
o their network parameters. Measurements of swelling, stress-strain and NMR
-relaxation were carried out to characterize the molar mass of the inter-cr
osslink chains. The methods used result in mean parameters which are signif
icant for the comparison of the network parameters of conventional and dyna
mic vulcanizates. The investigation of the mechanical relaxation behavior f
or samples with different crosslink degrees shows the specific influence of
the crosslink content for conventional and dynamic vulcanizates.
