Abstract
The rare alkaloid casimiroedine and its peracetylated derivative both show complex H-1 and C-13 spectra with almost all signals doubled owing to slow rotation about the amide bond. Nevertheless, it is possible, using 2D NMR m ethods, to assign fully the H-1 and C-13 spectra of the major and minor con formational isomers for each compound.
