M. Echigo et al., Synthesis and properties of tris(beta-diketonato) bismuth(III) complexes by the reaction using NaOCN as base, NIP KAG KAI, (4), 2000, pp. 237-242
The reactions of bismuth trichloride (BiCl3) with beta-diketone (acetylacet
one; Hacac, benzoylacetone; Hbzac, dibenzoylmethane; Hdbzm, dipivaloylmetha
ne; Hdpm) in the presence of sodium cyanate and additives (tetramethylurea,
THF, 15-crown-5, triethylammonium chloride) in methanol/benzene solution y
ielded the corresponding pure tris (beta-diketonato)bismuth(III) complexes.
THF was the most effective additive in the reaction of BiCl3 with Hdbzm. T
he solubility of the isolated bismuth(III) complexes for aprotic organic so
lvents (benzene, THF, dichloromethane and hexane) and methanol was examined
. The characterization of the isolated bismuth(III) complexes was carried o
ut by means of IR, H-1-NMR, C-13-NMR, MS and TG measurements.
