Abstract
It is often impossible to determine the optimum detector geometry, thermist or doping and operating conditions prior to fabrication. We therefore sugge st a software approach. A computer code, which allows to simulate the heat transport and electrical coupling, has been developed and is applied to act ual calorimeters. The overall agreement between calculated detector feature s and corresponding experimental findings is found to be good. (C) 2000 Els evier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
