We study CP(N-1) model with topological term for N = 3 and 4. The topologic
al charge distribution P(Q) is calculated. The distribution P(Q) is then tr
ansformed to the partition function Z(theta) as a function of theta paramet
er. P(Q) is Gaussian in the strong coupling region, leading to a first orde
r phase transition at theta = pi. In the weak coupling region, P(Q) deviate
s from Gaussian. Intermediate and weak coupling regions are characterized b
y the leading power of the fits to In P(Q). Free energy as a function of th
eta shows "flattening" behavior at theta = theta(f) < pi, when we calculate
the free energy directly from topological charge distribution. We also sho
w some preliminary results for the fixed point action.
