Abstract
The coupling of o-alkynylbenzoyl derivatives with carbene complexes has bee n investigated. The reaction initially affords isobenzofuran derivatives, w hich convert to alkylidenephthalan derivatives or can be trapped by various dienophiles to afford benzo-oxanorbornene derivatives.
