Abstract
Since the large Lancaster nuclear cooling refrigerator, conceived in 1 978 and completed in 1981, is now well into its second decade we are p lanning a new machine. This paper outlines the main features and under lying philosophy of the new design based on experience gained over man y years of operation with the current machine.
