Multiply charged ion-induced fragmentation and ionization of C-60 is govern
ed by electronic and nuclear stopping of the projectile as well as charge e
xchange. We have studied the collision dynamics as a function of the projec
tile atomic number Z (2 less than or equal to Z less than or equal to 18) f
ur constant projectile velocity upsilon at charge states q = 2, 3. Strong o
scillations of electronic-stopping-related quantities such as ionization an
d fragmentation are observed. From the properties of the oscillations, we o
btain information on the effective electron density of the fullerene.
