Abstract
The 2:1 cyanocuprate [Ar2Cu(CN)Li-2(THF)(4)](infinity) (1, Ar = [C6H4CH2NMe 2-2](-)) is obtained as the only product in the reaction of two equivalents of ArLi with one equivalent of CuCN in tetrahydrofuran (THF) at - 78 degre es C. The X-ray crystal structure reveals an ionic polymeric chain consisti ng of consecutive [Ar2Cu](-) and [(THF)(2)LiCNLi(THF)(2)](+) units. Its com position in THF solution has been investigated.
