Abstract
Poly (acryloyl benzoic hydrazide) and its complexes with some transition me tals were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis spec tra and magnetic measurements. The results showed that the homopolymer reac ted with Fe(III) chloride and Zn(II) acetate in 1:1 and with Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) chlorides in 1:2 (metal: ligand) molar ratio. Thermal analysis measurements showed that the thermal stabilities of the polymer complexes a re higher than the homopolymer which is attributed to the formation of stab le 5-membered chelate ring. Electrical measurements indicated that the homo polymer and its corresponding metal complexes are within the insulator rang e. (C) 2000 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
