This paper presents methods for assessing the risk of outstanding correctiv
e actions, and describes how the methods were applied at a nuclear power st
ation. The methods are motivated by a current industry focus on risk-inform
ed operation and a current NRC focus on risk-informed regulation. Applicati
on of the methods provides: (1) a risk-informed basis for establishing sche
dules and allocating resources to implement corrective actions; (2) a risk-
informed basis for justifying continued operation until corrective actions
are implemented. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
