Abstract
Zero-range potential model based on the theory of self-adjoint extensions o f symmetric operators is suggested for the description of a waveguide in ph otonic crystal. Both the three-and two-dimensional cases are considered. La yers, waveguides and coupled waveguides are studied. The model dispersion e quation is obtained in an explicit form.
