Abstract
Three different procedures for the extraction of PCBs, IUPAC Nos: 28, 52, 1 01, 138, 153, 180, were investigated: Soxhlet, ultrasonic and reflux solven t extraction. The quantitation was made by using an OV1 fused silica capill ary column and ECD detection and confirmation with the aid of mass spectrom etric detection (full scan and SIM modes) after separation bf compounds on a DB-5 column. Experimental conditions are shown in which a good separation of the 6 PCBs considered and organochlorines present in soil is obtained.
