Abstract
We established liquid membrane and multimembrane models, containing the rea ctive supramolecular complex [18crown-6...I](+) I-3(-), estimated as simila r to those arisen in biological medium. The reactive species [18-crown-6... I](+) I-3(-) was generated "in situ" through redox-equilibrium successive p rocesses involving KI, an oxidizer (H2O2, dilauryl peroxide, peroxidized me thyl oleate) and 18-crown-6. The reactive complex [18-crown-6...I](+) I-3(- ) was subsequently involved in: (i) tyrosine iodination (yielding regiosele ctively monoiodotyrosine); (ii) redox processes (ex. oxidation of Na2S2O3, ascorbic acid, glucose).
