The activity of mixed oxide catalysts toward oxidation of carbon monoxide w
as studied in the presence of ozone admixtures and after preliminary treatm
ent of the surface of the catalysts by ozone and oxygen. Such admixtures an
d treatments were shown to have a promoting action. The oxidation of CO pro
ceeded with the participation of various adsorbed oxygen forms, and the sta
te of oxidation centers changed during treatment and in the presence of ozo
ne admixtures.
