Abstract
The nature of the superionic state of alpha-AgI is explained in terms of pe riodic equipotential surfaces of the spatial interionic potential construct ed from the one-dimensional effective pair potential of the EXAFS method. T he physical meaning of periodic minimum surfaces for analyzing dynamic proc esses is substantiated.
