Abstract
An EPR analysis shows that, in gamma-irradiated Me2O-P2O5-WO3 and Me2O-B2O3 -WO3 (Me = Li, Na, K, and Rb) glasses, PO32-, PO42-, BO32-,W5+, and O-2(-) point defects and atomic hydrogen (from structurally bound water) are forme d. For these glasses, the radiochemical yield of atomic hydrogen increases with the alkali metal cation radius from Li to Rb.
