Ta. Kotel'Nikova et Ep. Ageev, Isosteric gas-chromatographic characteristics for the retention of water and isopropanol on polyvinyltrimethylsilane, RUSS J PH C, 73(8), 1999, pp. 1315-1319
The sorption isotherms and isosteric characteristics for the retention wate
r and isopropanol on polyvinyltrimethylsilane (PVTMS) are measured by gas c
hromatography. The surface of the polymer layer is non-uniformly filled by
the sorbates with the formation of multilayer clusters. Water interacts wit
h PVTMS only via adsorption forces, whereas isopropanol, accumulating at th
e places of primary sorption, modifies the polymer structure so as to open
transport pathways.
