Im. Borisov et al., Reactions of radicals during the decomposition of di-tert-butyl peroxide in phenyl acetate, RUSS J PH C, 73(8), 1999, pp. 1360-1362
The effect of the phenyl acetate reaction medium on the kinetics and the pr
oduct composition for the decomposition of di-tert-butyl peroxide in an ine
rt atmosphere at 180 degrees C was studied. Among the reaction products, ac
etone, tert-butanol, ortho-, meta-, and para-substituted methyl phenylaceta
tes, phenol, tert-butyl acetate, and tert-butoxyphenylacetate were identifi
ed. The thermochemistry of addition of the methyl and tert-butoxy radicals
to the phenyl acetate and acetone molecules was considered.
