Abstract
The kinetics of solution of magnetite was studied as functions of the conce ntrations of hydrochloric acid and nonaqueous solvents. Methods for calcula ting the kinetic constants based on heterogeneous and electrochemical kinet ics principles and a model mechanism of solution of magnetite taking into a ccount the acid-base and adsorption properties of magnetite were suggested. Stimulating effects of nonaqueous solvents on the kinetic processes were e xplained by changes in the potential at the oxide/electrolyte interface.
