Atomic force microscopy, ellipsometry, and piezoquartz microweighing techni
ques were used to study the characteristics of N-octadecyl-3,4:9,10-perylen
e-bis(dicarboxydiimide) monomolecular layers depending on the conditions of
isolation and the nature of the substrate. The Langmuir-Blodgett him of th
e compound was found to have an aggregation structure; film quality charact
eristics (uniformity, absence of defects) were highest when monolayers were
formed by X-type deposition on a hydrophilic surface. It was shown that at
omic force microscopy thickness measurements for monomolecular layers of pe
rylenetetracarboxylic acid derivatives should be performed taking into acco
unt him elastic deformations under the action of the probe of the microscop
e during scanning.
