The energy of combustion of tetraphenylporphin was measured in a liquid iso
thermal-shell calorimeter. The standard enthalpies of combustion (Delta(c)H
degrees = -22971.7 +/- 33.6 kJ/mol) and formation (Delta(f)H degrees = 117
4.8 +/- 33.7 kJ/mol) of the porphyrin under study were calculated. It was s
hown that the calculated Delta(c)H degrees value agrees closely with that e
stimated by the Hendrick equation with a discrepancy within 0.61%.
