Abstract
Parallel dehydrogenation of 2-propanol was studied under the conditions of liquid-phase catalytic hydrogenation of substituted aromatic nitro compound s on Raney nickel in binary 2-propanol-water solvents. The kinetic patterns of parallel dehydrogenation were found to be determined by the natures and positions of substituents in nitro compound molecules and their adsorbabil ity and reactivity. The special features of the mechanism of liquid-phase c atalytic hydrogenation of the nitro group in aromatic nitro compounds are d iscussed.
