The gas-chromatographic properties of methacrylic polymers with various ami
no group contents and basicities were studied. The polarities of the polyme
rs were calculated by the Rohrschneider equation and by the method of linea
r expansion of gas-chromatographic parameters. It was shown that the polyme
r polarity and the type of the intermolecular interaction that controls the
process of sorption depend on the basicity and accessibility of the amino
groups in the polymer: for polymers containing tertiary amine groups, the o
rientation interaction plays the main role, whereas for polymers containing
primary amino groups, the acceptor interaction is most important.
