Abstract
The automorphism group of the C*-algebra generated by the Toeplitz operates with symbols being continuous functions on the bicircle is characterized c ompletely. The investigation is based on the analysis of the behaviour of a n automorphism of the Toeplitz algebra on its C*-ideal chains, and the stat e of the closed ideals in C (T)XH(H).
