Abstract
Metastatic tumors of the spleen are rare and usually occur in the pres ence of disseminated visceral metastases. The liver is the most common site of metastatic spread from colon cancer. We report a case of isol ated intrasplenic metastasis from sigmoid colon cancer and review the possible reasons for the rarity of splenic metastasis. This represents the fifth reported case of isolated splenic metastasis from colon can cer. Splenectomy may be justified in presence of isolated metastatic d isease, since it is an operation with a low complication rate and may provide potential longterm survival in colon cancer.
