Abstract
Cs[(CF3)(3)BNH2] reacts with CF3NO to form cesium trans-trifluoromethyldiaz enido-tris(trifluoromethyl)borate Cs[(CF3)(3)BN=NCF3] (2), the structure of which has been investigated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The diaze ne nature of the anion is confirmed by the length of the N=N bond, 1.231(6) Angstrom and the size of the N-N-B angle, 115.5(4)degrees - the B-N bond l ength being 1.559(7) A. Compound 2 is hitherto the first diazenidoborate wh ich has been fully characterized.
