Circuit designs of sinusoidal switched-current oscillators (SIOs) both sing
le phase and multiphase are presented. First, a novel SIO is proposed. This
SIO features simpler configuration and hence fewer transistors and connect
ions, and faster building up of stable oscillation amplitude than those pro
posed in earlier works. Then, new design schemes of multiple-phase sinusoid
al SIOs are introduced. Both even and odd phase SIOs can be implemented usi
ng the schemes described. Finally, cascode techniques, (SI)-I-2 memory cell
, dummy switches and balanced structure are applied to our SIOs to get high
precision SIOs. The circuit operations of all SIO proposed have been valid
ated by transistor level SPICE simulations.
