C. Richardson et Pj. Steel, Di(2-pyridyl)furoxan: Metal complexes and an unusual ruthenium-induced molecular rearrangement, AUST J CHEM, 53(2), 2000, pp. 93-97
Di(2-pyridyl)furoxan (1) forms palladium(II) and copper(II) complexes havin
g seven-membered chelate rings with coordination via the two pyridine nitro
gens. In contrast, reaction with bis(2,2'-bipyridine)dichlororuthenium lead
s to an unusual ring-opening ring-closing rearrangement reaction to produce
a complex of 3-nitro-2-(2-pyridyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridine (7). X-Ray cryst
al structures are reported for a copper complex of (1) and a ruthenium comp
lex of (7).
