Spores similar to Myxobolus pseudodispar were observed in Chondrostoma poly
lepis and Leuciscus cephalus captured in Portugal. This is the first observ
ation of this parasite in Portugal. Although presenting a great uniformity
in size and shape, some variation in polar capsules position was seen. Musc
le, kidney, urinary ducts, liver, spleen and gills were infected. The preva
lence of infection was 71% in C. polylepis and 50% in L. cephalus.
