Kk. Sharma et al., ACQUIRED GASTRIC OUTLET OBSTRUCTION DURING INFANCY AND CHILDHOOD - A REPORT OF 5 UNUSUAL CASES, Journal of pediatric surgery, 32(6), 1997, pp. 928-930
Infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis is a common, specific, and wel
l-understood entity in the pediatric age group. Prepyloric webs and di
aphragms are the other rare causes of gastric outlet obstruction follo
wed by still rarer causes, eg, pyloric stenosis secondary to acid pept
ic disease. The present report describes a newer, nonspecific, clinica
l condition of pyloric obstruction in five patients of varying age who
responded very well to Henieke-Mikulicz' pyloroplasty. The authors ha
ve suggested some modifications in the classification of gastric outle
t obstruction in children to include these patients. (C) 1997 by W.B.
