Basic information related to the acoustic dispersion, local sound velocity
distribution and influence of the grain size on the elastic properties of w
hite plasma-assisted chemical vapour-deposited diamond has been obtained by
a new Brillouin scattering technique. The obtained results show no acousti
c dipersion and the existence of internal stresses that influence the elast
