Abstract
A general method for the synthesis of substituted tetraoxa-[8]circulenes ba sed on alkylation of 2,3-bis (bromomethyl)-1,4-dimethoxybenzene with acetyl ides is reported. Four of the compounds shows LC behavior, and the tetraoxa [8]circulenes are thus new candidates for discotic mesogens.
