Abstract
The outer membrane complex of Chlamydia is involved in the initial adherenc e and ingestion of Chlamydia by the host cell. In order to identify novel p roteins in the outer membrane of Chlamydia trachomatis L2, proteins were se parated by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. By si lver staining of the protein profile, a major protein doublet of 100-110 kD a was detected. In-gel tryptic digestion and matrix-assisted laser desorpti on/ionization mass spectrometry identified these proteins as the putative o uter membrane proteins PmpG and PmpH.
