Abstract
Crystals of stoichiometric CeSc3(BO3)(4) (CSB) have been frown from a high- temperature solution by employing an LiBO2/LiF flux. The structure has been determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction measurements; it crystall izes with three formula units in a trigonal cell of dimensions a=9.796(1) a nd c=7.960(2) Angstrom. The nonlinear optical response and luminescence dat a for CSB are presented, and an energy-level scheme for the Nd-doped compou nd is derived. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
