Measurements of CO2 absorption rate into aqueous solutions of MDEA were car
ried out in a stirred vessel under atmospheric pressure at the temperature
of 20 degrees C. The ranges of parameters were as follows: stirrer speed 40
-80 rpm; concentration of MDEA 10, 20 and 30 mass %. It was found that in e
xperimental conditions the reaction CO2 + R3N + H2O --> R3NH+ + HCO3- gover
ns the overall rate of process and can be treated as a fast pseudo-first or
der irreversible reaction. The values of the reaction rate constant were de
termined and compared with the literature data.
